Ingredients

Scale

Cheese

  • 6 to 8 ounces semi-hard cheese (gouda, cheddar, havarti)
  • Additional cubed cheese for layers
  • Cheese cut into stars or snowflakes for topping

Fruits and Vegetables

  • 10 to 15 red grapes
  • 1/2 cup fresh raspberries
  • 2 to 3 mini cucumbers, sliced into rounds
  • Handful of olives for decorating

Nuts and Sweets

  • 1/2 cup marcona almonds
  • 1/4 cup candied ginger

Meats and Crackers

  • 3 ounces salami, folded
  • Assorted crackers

Herbs and Garnish

  • 4 to 5 sprigs of fresh rosemary
  • Honey for serving

Instructions

  1. Select board: Choose a cheese or wooden board about 18 inches in diameter large enough to create a tree shape.
  2. Create tree outline: Use a roll of string to form an even triangle on the board and tape each corner to hold the triangle shape in place.
  3. Base layer: Arrange one layer of crackers along the bottom edge of the triangle as the first row of the tree.
  4. Add cheese and grapes: Place sticks of cheese above the crackers, followed by a row of red grapes.
  5. Layer cucumbers: Add two rows of sliced mini cucumbers above the grapes.
  6. Add almonds: Lightly mound 1/2 cup of marcona almonds to fill the next layer.
  7. Layer raspberries: Place two rows of fresh raspberries above the almonds.
  8. Add cheese cubes: Scatter cubed cheese generously above the raspberries.
  9. Fold salami: Add a layer of folded salami slices above the cheese cubes.
  10. Top with crackers: Fill in spaces with additional crackers above the salami.
  11. Decorate tree top: Place cheese cut into star or snowflake shapes at the top of the tree to form the tree topper.
  12. Garnish: Scatter candied ginger among the layers for sparkle and wedge fresh rosemary sprigs between rows to mimic tree branches.
  13. Add olives: Insert a few olives throughout the board to resemble ornaments.
  14. Finish and serve: Carefully remove the string outlining the tree. Serve the board with honey on the side for drizzling.

Notes

  • Use a ruler or measuring tape to help create an even triangle with the string for a balanced tree shape.
  • Mix and match cheeses and fruits to suit your preference or available ingredients.
  • To save time, buy pre-sliced cheeses and ready-to-serve crackers.
  • Use fresh rosemary to add festive fragrance and enhance presentation.
  • Serve honey on the side so guests can add sweetness to their taste.
  • This no-cook recipe makes for an easy, visually striking holiday appetizer.
