Description

This classic Shrimp Cocktail Recipe features tender, cooked shrimp served chilled with a tangy homemade cocktail sauce made from chili sauce, fresh lemon juice, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, and ground mustard. It's a quick and easy appetizer perfect for entertaining or a light snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp

  • 1 pound Simple Truth Extra Large Peeled and Deveined Cooked Shrimp

Cocktail Sauce

  • 1/2 cup Kroger Chili Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (from 1/2 lemon)
  • 2 teaspoons prepared hot horseradish
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
  • Additional lemon wedges for garnish

Instructions

  1. Thaw Shrimp. Thaw the shrimp in the refrigerator overnight and rinse with cold water, then set aside. For a quicker method, place the shrimp in a bowl and rinse with cold water for 20 minutes, then drain and chill until ready to serve.
  2. Prepare Cocktail Sauce. In a small bowl, combine the chili sauce, fresh lemon juice, prepared horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, and ground mustard. Stir well to blend the flavors.
  3. Assemble and Serve. Arrange crushed ice on a serving platter. Place the chilled shrimp on top of the ice along with lemon wedges. Serve the cocktail sauce on the side, keeping everything cold for best flavor.

Notes

  • Use pre-cooked, peeled, and deveined shrimp for convenience and quick preparation.
  • Adjust horseradish amount to taste for desired spiciness.
  • For an upscale presentation, serve shrimp chilled on a bed of ice in individual cocktail glasses.
  • Leftover cocktail sauce can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Make sure shrimp is fully thawed and well chilled before serving for the best texture and flavor.
