Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- ½ cup onion (diced)
- 1 cup cheddar cheese (shredded)
Batter
- 1 cup milk
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ¾ cup Bisquick
- 2 large eggs (room temperature)
Instructions
- Preheat oven. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the pie.
- Prepare pie pan. Grease a 9 inch pie pan to prevent sticking and set aside.
- Cook beef and onions. In a large skillet, brown ground beef and diced onions over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain excess grease carefully.
- Assemble base. Spread the browned ground beef evenly into the bottom of the prepared pie pan, then sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top.
- Make batter. In a small bowl, whisk together milk, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, Bisquick, and eggs until just combined, forming the batter.
- Pour batter over beef. Pour the batter mixture evenly over the ground beef and cheese layer in the pie pan.
- Bake. Place the pie pan into the preheated oven and bake for 25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and set.
- Serve. Remove the pie from the oven and serve immediately while hot and fresh.
Notes
- Use fresh grated cheddar cheese for better melting and flavor.
- Let the eggs come to room temperature before mixing for a smoother batter.
- You can add other seasonings like paprika or onion powder for extra flavor.
- Drain the cooked beef well to avoid a soggy crust.
- This dish pairs well with a simple green salad or steamed vegetables.
