Description

Cheeseburger Pie is a savory and satisfying dish combining browned ground beef, onions, cheddar cheese, and a fluffy Bisquick and egg mixture baked into a golden crust. Perfect for an easy weeknight dinner that the whole family will love.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ½ cup onion (diced)
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese (shredded)

Batter

  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¾ cup Bisquick
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the pie.
  2. Prepare pie pan. Grease a 9 inch pie pan to prevent sticking and set aside.
  3. Cook beef and onions. In a large skillet, brown ground beef and diced onions over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain excess grease carefully.
  4. Assemble base. Spread the browned ground beef evenly into the bottom of the prepared pie pan, then sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top.
  5. Make batter. In a small bowl, whisk together milk, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, Bisquick, and eggs until just combined, forming the batter.
  6. Pour batter over beef. Pour the batter mixture evenly over the ground beef and cheese layer in the pie pan.
  7. Bake. Place the pie pan into the preheated oven and bake for 25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and set.
  8. Serve. Remove the pie from the oven and serve immediately while hot and fresh.

Notes

  • Use fresh grated cheddar cheese for better melting and flavor.
  • Let the eggs come to room temperature before mixing for a smoother batter.
  • You can add other seasonings like paprika or onion powder for extra flavor.
  • Drain the cooked beef well to avoid a soggy crust.
  • This dish pairs well with a simple green salad or steamed vegetables.
